Being a celebrity is not without its perks, yet becoming famous can also open the door for anonymous online bullying.
Despite being one of the most beloved ’90s TV stars thanks to her role in “Full House,” Candace Cameron Bure has experienced that firsthand.
Haters Gonna Hate
In a recent edition of her “Candace Cameron Bure” podcast, she revealed that she’s often criticized about one trait more than any other.
“People always comment how annoying my voice is. … All the time,” she said, via Entertainment Weekly.
As she recalled being targeted by “haters,” she became visibly emotional, pausing to compose herself when tears began rolling down her cheeks. “I’m getting the tissues out,” she said.
“It’s a lot,” Cameron Bure shared. “It’s the one criticism I constantly hear, is my voice.”
As she revealed, there was one online commenter who told her that they “turned off” the TV because her “voice is so annoying.”
The Other Side of the Coin
While she admitted that criticism stung deeply, the former Hallmark Channel star revealed that she was able to put in all in perspective after she “started reading the Bible” on social media. It was then, she explained, that she received a barrage of positive feedback.
“I just want to share that, so I often — on the Story part of my Instagram — read the Bible. Just a few verses, maybe a paragraph,” she shared.“I’ve never had more people say to me, ‘I love to hear you read the Bible. You make the Bible come alive for me,’” she added.
“So, it feels so redemptive that God’s using the very thing that glorifies him and the thing that’s brought me pain,” she continued. “And then, be rewarded for it. Not, in a personal way be rewarded but, people like the sound of my voice when I read the Bible.”
‘You Are Listening to Me’
As the podcast continued, she pointed to the irony that fans were listening to her supposedly “annoying” voice while she spoke on her podcast.
“I’m sitting here, right now, and we’re on a podcast, and most of you are listening to me,” she observed.
“I’m crying because I just got really self-conscious of my voice, because that’s what you’re listening to. But I have a podcast, and we’re sharing Jesus,” she added. “That’s what my heart is. My heart is just to bring people one step closer to Jesus and that’s what this whole podcast is for.”
She Doesn’t Fight Back
During a November 2025 appearance on the “Stay True” podcast, the Great American Family star said that when she does find herself bullied online, she rarely claps back.
“I usually don’t fight back in the comments because nothing really comes from it,” she said. “I feel like when you fight back in the comments, it becomes defensive. I feel like the more people defend themselves, the less integrity it holds.”
While she prefers to let the Almighty fight those battles for her, she’s also heartened when her fans step up to her defence.
“I also let the other people who are genuine fans fight my battles for me too,” Cameron Bure added. “Because sometimes they come in, they’re like, ‘She doesn’t do that. That’s not what she meant by that.’ And so I’m like, ‘You guys can do that.’”
