Steven McBee Jr. is sharing an update on his father Steve McBee Sr.’s relationship with Masha Petrova as the “McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys” patriarch prepares to return home.
Steve Sr. is scheduled to be released from federal prison in Yankton, South Dakota, on Sept. 11. While he has been away, Masha has remained in his life and has continued visiting him.
During an appearance on the “Roxanne and Shantel” podcast, Steven Jr. revealed that he recently learned just how much contact his dad and Masha have maintained. He also admitted he isn’t entirely sure what to make of their relationship.
Steven McBee Jr. Reveals the ‘Latest Tea’ About Steve Sr. & Masha
Steven Jr. said he traveled to South Dakota with his mother, Kristi McBee, to visit his dad and discuss the family business. While signing in, they noticed a familiar name on the visitor list.
“So get this. Here’s the latest tea,” Steven Jr. said. “So my dad is up in Yankton. Of course, my mom went and visited him with me last weekend. We drove up there just to give him a state of the business. Like, it was more of a serious conversation of some things that were happening.”
Steven Jr. said they saw Masha’s name on the list from the previous weekend, showing that she had visited from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
He said his younger brothers, Cole McBee and Jesse McBee, later brought up Masha during their own visit with their father.
According to Steven Jr., his dad told them, “Yeah, Masha and I, we’ve emailed a couple of times last month, but haven’t really talked about it. She was here the weekend before.”
Steven Jr. believes his dad is downplaying the relationship.
“He tries to act like a tough guy, like he’s this Mr. Independent, and he’s not. I don’t know why he doesn’t just admit it,” he said.
Steven Jr. Says His Dad Wants ‘a Woman in His Life’
Steven Jr. went on to say that he doesn’t believe his dad wants to be alone once he returns home.
“He is someone that wants a woman in his life, and he tries to come off like he could just live his life with him and his dog, Gunner, and it’s like, no. Go a week without having Masha up,” he said.
Still, Steven Jr. admitted he doesn’t know exactly where things stand between his dad and Masha because he believes they may be hearing different things from Steve Sr.
“I don’t really know what to think about it because, with all due credit to Masha, I feel like my dad tells her different things than from what he tells us,” he explained.
“I feel like Masha is being told things by my dad like ‘I love you.’ So he’s telling her different things than what he’s telling us,” he added. “And that is my dad, to a tee.”
Steve Sr. and Masha were together while filming “The McBee Dynasty” in 2025, and she has continued visiting him during his prison sentence. Cole’s wife, Kacie Adkison, also told Decider in June that the relationship appeared to be continuing.
“She is still with Cole’s dad from what we know,” Adkison said.
Steve McBee Sr. Is Preparing to Return Home From Prison
Steve Sr. is set to return to his family farm in Gallatin, Missouri, following his Sept. 11 release, and Steven Jr. said his family is looking forward to having him home.
“We cannot wait to have him back here,” he said on “Roxanne and Shantel.” “I think prison and that time to do nothing or just read and reflect is going to be the best thing that ever happened to him.”
Steven Jr. said he has already noticed changes in his father and hopes they continue once he’s home.
“I hope that the way he talks now, the way he acts now, and the things he says, I hope they stick whenever he gets out of prison,” he said. “And if so, I think there’s a lot of good things to come.”
“He’s going to be a force to be reckoned with in a good way,” Steven Jr. added. “So again, I’m hoping for the best, and I hope it sticks. But as of what he’s saying right now, I think it’s going to be a really, really good thing for our family.”
Steven Jr. also predicted that his dad could try to get closer to Kristi after his release. He questioned whether Steve Sr.’s decision to make his ex-wife interim president of the McBee family business while he was away could have another motive.
“That’s a move there that’s like, he’s trying to bring her back in so he — yeah, that’s my thoughts,” Steven Jr. said.
However, he made it clear that he doesn’t necessarily see his parents as a match.
“I love my dad. He’s a great dad to us. Obviously, my mom is an angel on earth, literally,” he said. “But those two are so polar opposite.”
