Shirley Ballas Gushes Over Son Mark Ballas’ ‘Chicago’ Performance: ‘We’re Truly Blessed’

Dancing With the Stars” pro Mark Ballas returned for season 34 to compete with “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Whitney Leavitt. Although the pair was eliminated ahead of the finale, they left a long-lasting impression with viewers.

Now, Mark and Whitney are smashing box office records for their “Chicago” run.

Shirley Ballas and her mother recently traveled to the United States to see Mark in action. See what the proud mother had to say about witnessing her son on the Broadway stage.


Shirley Ballas Feels Tremendously Proud of Her Son

Shirley Ballas lives in London full-time, but she made the trip to New York City to see her son compete in a role of a lifetime. She brought her mother along for the occasion, and they gushed over Mark’s performance as Billy Flynn.

“Mum and Nanny are beyond proud @markballas@chicagomusical 🥹 … congratulations on an outstanding performance,” Shirley Ballas captioned a sweet Instagram tribute to her son. She attached many heartwarming behind-the-scenes photos, including a video of their reunion.

“Witnessing you get back on that Broadway stage brought me to tears and seeing Nanny smiling throughout was just the best,” she continued. “We’re truly blessed and are ready to watch you shine all again tonight. We love you, Mark. 🫶🏼 x”

In the comments, the “Strictly Come Dancing” judge added to the sentiments, noting how wonderful it was that her own mother could see Mark onstage.

“For many years it was his Nan (my mum) who took him every week to dance lessons and stage school,” Shirley Ballas shared. “This was a special moment they both relived the train journey, the long Saturdays, all the auditions his gratitude was overwhelming for other people’s sacrifices to help him. But most of all his nanny. That’s beautiful. ❤️👏👏👏👏👏”

In the comments, fans gushed over the wholesome post. Everyone felt delighted that Mark’s family came to cheer him on, especially after his bout with health issues.


The Ballases Teamed Up For an Exciting New Project

Fans of the Ballas family are surely in for a special treat this summer. “Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro” premieres in July, which follows the search for the next pro dancer. Reigning champion Robert Irwin hosts while Mark and Shirley Ballas serve as judges.

Although filming has already wrapped, Shirley was over the moon to work alongside her son.

“The news finally is out, we’re finding The Next Pro for @dancingwiththestars ❤️ … and a dream of mine to judge alongside my son @markballas has finally come true,” the 65-year-old gleefully shared on Instagram. “I cannot wait for you all to witness what’s in store. Get ready for a show like you’ve never seen before. The ballroom doesn’t know what’s coming.”

Mark Ballas and Whitney Leavitt headline “Chicago” now through May 3. “Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro” airs on Hulu on Monday, July 13.
