Sharna Burgess Gives Update After Evacuating Home Due to Wildfire Risk

Former “Dancing With the Stars” champion Sharna Burgess and her family faced a frightening situation this week. A wildfire unexpectedly threatened their Los Angeles home, prompting their evacuation.

Burgess recently shared a quick video with fans, showing how close the flames were getting. Thankfully, the family escaped safely. Now, they have no other choice but to wait for news and hope they can return home.

Sharna Burgess Films Wildfires Approaching Her Family’s Home

Professional dancer Sharna Burgess shares her home with her fiancé, “Beverly Hills, 90210” star Brian Austin Green, and their son, Zane. Green’s other children also frequently stay at the home.

Sadly, everyone needed to leave as a wildfire rapidly approached the property.

“Well this was unexpected,” Sharna wrote over the video on her Instagram stories. “[Thank] you everyone who reached out. We are evacuated and safe. I’m certain our home is safe too.”

Although visibly distressed and exhausted, she detailed the situation to fans.

“We are on our way out of here, but this was not on our bingo card today, being evacuated,” the professional dancer sighed as she panned over the landscape. Hues of red and orange glow over the rolling Los Angeles hillside.

“Possibly one last little look at my favorite place in the world,” Sharna continued, capturing her family’s backyard pool and playground. “And, time to get out of here I guess. If I’m honest with you, my alarm bells aren’t necessarily going off. I know that looks terrifying, but we’re gonna follow the rules and get out of here. Because it is… well, it’s right there. Here we go.”

Thankfully, the family has many nearby friends who can lend a helping hand if needed.

The Family Leans On One Another Amid the Uncertainty

As Sharna Burgess and her family wait for news about their home, they are certainly thankful for each other. She and Brian Austin Green, met in 2020 and quickly fell in love.

They competed on “Dancing With the Stars” season 30 together in 2021. Even though they were eliminated third, the competition only strengthened their love. They welcomed their son Zane during the summer of 2022.

Sharna Burgess fell head over heels in love with motherhood, but she also enjoys a special bond with her fiance’s other children. Green has one son with Vanessa Marcil and three sons with Megan Fox. On Mother’s Day, the “Beverly Hills, 90210” actor penned a sweet tribute to Sharna Burgess and thanked her for being a wonderful example to all his children.

“Baby, you are the most incredible mommy and step-mommy these kids could have been blessed enough to have,” Brian Austin Green wrote on Instagram. “I have never seen anyone as dedicated a parent as you. You go beyond what I have ever thought was possible and give absolutely all of yourself ❤️❤️Happy Mother’s Day 😊”

“I love you ❤️ thank you xx” the professional dancer replied in the comments.

Sharna Burgess Updates Fans After Successfully Evacuating

Despite the ongoing evacuation, Sharna Burgess has no plans to stop working.

“Oh do I have a story for you,” the 40-year-old shared on her Instagram stories. “So we’re still in evacuation, that’s happening.”

She added that the wildfires died down the night before, but she knew she did the right thing by leaving because of the risk of smoke inhalation. Sadly, the fires kicked back up during the day, leaving her family’s situation up in the air.

“I was set to do ‘Extra’ today with Sasha [Farber] for the convention,” Sharna continued, noting Derek Hough attended too. “However, I evacuated my house.”

The dancer went on to discuss how she was so focused on the essentials and getting her family to safety that she forgot to pack an outfit for “Extra.”

“This is what your girl has,” Sharna laughed it off as she showed the camera her grey tank top beneath her matching light blue sweatpants and jacket. Thankfully, she had several people in her corner willing to lend a hand. The dancer detailed how the team at “Extra” found her a new outfit to wear so she could successfully complete the interview.

While Sharna Burgess certainly felt grateful for the care she received, she quickly realized the team had mistakenly been told she was evicted from her home, not evacuated. After the interview, the team offered her words of encouragement, erroneously believing she didn’t have anywhere to go for the night.

The Family Waits to Return Home

Although she found the situation comical, she admitted her family is still evacuated for the time being.

“We are still in evacuation,” Sharna continued, noting that one of her neighbors is on the fire team. “It was a little crazy last night trying to figure it out and where to go.”

She tried to return to their home this morning, but Brian Austin Green sent her a video of the smoke coming in over the hills, and she changed her mind. Even so, Sharna shared she was continuing on with her work projects.

“Okay here’s the update. I’m currently trailing behind four fire trucks and they’re heading basically to where our house is,” the DWTS pro continued on her Instagram stories. “The fire is getting a bit closer and the problem is the wind is going to shift at 2 p.m., so they’re concerned about it coming our way a bit more. So I am headed back into the community. I am begging them to let me in. I need more clothes than what I have.”

“Life’s gonna keep moving right? Just like I had to get my butt on ‘Extra’ this morning,” she added.

Fans wish Sharna Burgess and her family the best as they wait to return home.
