It’s a perfect match! Hallmark Channel has announced it’s filming a new movie in Australia with the perfect duo to do so: Daniel Lissing and Rhiannon Fish. Lissing was born and raised there, and Fish calls herself a “hybrid” who was born in Canada but grew up in Australia.
On March 30, 2026, Hallmark announced that this summer, Lissing and Fish will star in “Love On Deck,” filmed in Queensland. Here’s everything we know!
All About Rhiannon Fish & Daniel Lissing’s New Movie
Lissing and Fish are filming “Love On Deck” on the sun-drenched Gold Coast with Australian-based production company Jaggi Entertainment, according to FilmInk. The movie will be distributed in Australia by Romance Society, and globally (including the U.S.) by Hallmark.
The movie is directed by Colin Budds, who was also at the helm for Hallmark’s January getaway movie “A Melbourne Match,” starring Mallory Jansen and Ryan Corr. According to Australian outlet IF, Fish plays “former lawyer-turned-event planner Samara Hart, who is rebuilding her life when she takes on a high-stakes job, planning a lavish 40th wedding anniversary celebration aboard a luxury yacht.”
However, according to the logline, Samara’s “fresh start is thrown off course when she discovers the yacht’s captain is Nate Lawson (Lissing), her former courtroom rival and the man she blames for a career-defining public fallout. As the pair clash over every detail of the event, their sharp banter soon gives way to something deeper.”
Fish told IF, “‘Love on Deck’ has all the elements audiences love; romance, humour, and heart, but it’s also about taking risks and starting over.”
Rhiannon Fish is Amazed by Fans’ Excitement for ‘Love On Deck’
After Hallmark announced Fish and Lissing’s new movie via social media, she took a peek at the comments on Instagram and was pleasantly surprised by all the love from fans.
She adorably wrote, “This comment section is so nice?!? Thank you ❤️ we’re having SUCH a wonderful time making this movie. PS I’m also a big fan of @daniellissing now … I get the hype lol”
Both Lissing and Fish have been Hallmark fan-favorites for years, but both began their acting careers in Australia. Lissing moved to the U.S. in 2010 and was thrilled to become a dual citizen 10 years later. Before he made his mark as beloved Mountie Jack Thornton during the first five seasons of “When Calls The Heart,” from 2014 to 2018, Lissing starred in Australian series like “Crownies” and “Last Resort.”
He has also starred in many Hallmark Christmas movies, from 2016’s “A December Bride” to 2025’s “Single on the 25th.” But incredibly, “Love On Deck” will mark his first non-holiday Hallmark movie.
Fish, meanwhile, moved with her family from Calgary to Melbourne when she was four, and eventually moved to Sydney for her career. The actress got her big break on the Australian soap “Home & Away,” playing April Scott from 2010 to 2013, per IMDb. But that came after years of appearing on other TV shows there, including “Neighbours” and “As the Bell Rings.”
