How ‘Second Chance Love’ Aims to Be the Wholesome Dating Show the World Needs

When people think about love and romance, it’s not uncommon for the Hallmark Channel to come to mind. The network has expanded its content in recent years, including “Finding Mr. Christmas” and “Mistletoe Murders.” However, they’ve yet to introduce a dating show — until now.

On January 1, “Second Chance Love” will premiere on Hallmark+. Hosted by real-life couple Matthew Lawrence (“Boy Meets World”) and Chilli (90s girl group TLC), the show centers around former couples who are looking to rekindle the flame.

Why Chilli and Matthew Lawrence Believe Their New Dating Show Is Safe for the Whole Family

Chilli and Lawrence are aware that there are numerous dating shows available to watch. Ranging from “Love Island” to “The Bachelor,” some focus on hooking up, while others are about finding a spouse. The couple claims their show stands apart from the others.

“I think what’s really exciting about this show is it’s a complete departure from all these other dating shows you’ve ever seen,” Lawrence told “Entertainment Tonight.” “This is about love, and this is about reconnecting, getting back together, you know, closure. It’s all these things that are really relatable, instead of drama, instead of toxic relationships.”

“It’s nice, family wholesome type of show,” Chilli added. “And that’s what I love most about it. You don’t have to say, ‘Kids, go to bed.’ You know, everybody can watch this.”

“Second Chance Love” marks the couple’s first professional project together since they began dating three years ago. As a result, Chilli admitted she was hesitant to work together. Fortunately, the experience was positive for both of them.

“It just makes me happy that I can do so much with him and I love him so much, and it makes me love him more,” she admitted, smiling.

How Italy Deepened Chilli and Matthew Lawrence’s Love Connection

Shot in Sardinia, Italy, the couple found themselves entranced by the scenery just as much as the five couples featured in “Second Chance Love.”

“Just being here in Italy, it’s so beautiful and romantic,” Chilli said. “It just makes us, I don’t know, just closer in different ways.”

“Absolutely,” Lawrence agreed. “The walk home is… we were just walking hand in hand on this Marina, and we’re waving now to our new friends at the restaurants, and we have these incredible, deep conversations about romance and love that maybe we wouldn’t have had. And in that, we’re getting to express and communicate even more.”

“Second Chance Love” will be available to stream on Hallmark+ beginning January 1, 2026.
