Former HGTV host of “Flea Market Flip” and current “Good Morning America” host Lara Spencer has a new show she is passionate about, available to stream on Hulu. She was excited to share more about the Freeform series “That Thrifting Show!” with her fans, and the announcement has been a welcome one.
Lara Spencer Teases Her New Project ‘That Thrifting Show!’
In an Instagram post on Saturday, August 8, Spencer shared a clip of beautiful hand-painted wallpaper she believes is from the ‘40s, which she found in a dumpster. She gave fans a closer look at the wallpaper, and it is so detailed!
In the caption, Spencer shared her thoughts, writing, “Using my division one college Diving experience on this one! From the Dumpster to Star of the show, this might be my most proud transformation yet. To see more check out my series.That Thrifting Show! Season one streaming on @hulu. Season two now in production and coming to Freeform soon.”
Fans reacted with excitement to the teaser for the show. “Unbelievable how well you matched up the missing pieces. It is a beautiful work of art now! Can’t wait to see where they are hung! Congratulations on such an amazing eye as to how you could use the scraps of wallpaper,” a comment reads.

But what is “That Thrifting Show!” about? The synopsis, per IMDb, reads: “Two design teams race to transform identical rooms using vintage and thrift finds. Expert Spencer guides them as they create stylish spaces on tight time and budget constraints.” Season 1 launched on March 19, and the last of the 12 episodes aired in May.
Lara Spencer Shares Her Passion for Thrifting
Spencer has previously shared her excitement about being included in the project, and how it was inspired by her late mother Carolyn von Seelen. Von Seelen died in February at age 85. “It all began with my mom… she instilled my passion in thrifting and upcycling from the time I was an infant,” Spencer said, Better Homes & Gardens reports. “Through osmosis, it became instilled in me… and later in life, it became a shared passion.”
She continued, “She had a great eye and really beautiful taste. This show is a beautiful tribute to her.”
Speaking of the beauty of being able to repurpose old materials and transform rooms with thrifted items, she said, “You can dip your toe into the vintage thrifted world without having to feel overwhelmed. Start at a flea market—it’s usually a little bit more curated—or a charity thrift shop that’s got a more curated collection… that can feel less overwhelming.”
She also said she was a fan of charity thrift shops and that they support a good cause. Plus, thrifting is a “really fun way to add a unique layer to a room,”she shared.
