2 Fan-Favorite Talk Shows Delayed Tonight – Here’s Why the Schedule is Being Shifted

If your usual late-night routine looks a little different tonight, you’re not imagining things.

A Presidential Address is set to air at 9:00pm ET across multiple networks, according to Deadline. And run for about 20 minutes, which means several primetime and late-night shows are getting pushed, delayed, or straight-up interrupted. And yep, two fan-favorite talk shows are right in the middle of it: “The Late Show” and “The Tonight Show.”

Let’s break down what’s changing; and why you might want to stay up just a little later than usual.

Late Night Starts Later (But Still Worth It)

Both “The Late Show” and “The Tonight Show” are shifting to a later start time of 11:50pm ET tonight.

“The Late Show,” hosted by Stephen Colbert, will air on CBS with a stacked lineup. According to a Paramount press release, tonight’s big guest is none other than Meryl Streep. There will also be a performance by Maggie Rogers.

Over on NBC, “The Tonight Show,” hosted by Jimmy Fallon, is bringing serious star power with Zendaya and Robert Pattinson promoting their new film “The Drama.” There’s also an interview with Regé-Jean Page. Plus a musical performance featuring 600 Ent with BigXthaPlug, Ro$ama, Yung Hood, and MurdaGang PB, per Headline Planet.

So yes, it’s a later start… but it seems like both shows are making it worth your while.

Primetime is Getting Shuffled Too

If you thought the schedule shake-up stopped at late night…not quite.

Several major primetime shows are also feeling the impact tonight. Both the Season 14 finale of “The Masked Singer and the Season 50 finale of “Survivor are expected to be interrupted mid-show. Not exactly ideal, especially for finales; but it looks like viewers may just have to roll with it.

Other series, including “America’s Culinary Cup,” “Chicago Fire,” and “Chicago P.D.,” are expected to be delayed.

Meanwhile, over on ABC, “The Greatest Average American” and “Shark Tank” will both air reruns instead of new episodes tonight.

What This Really Means

It seems like tonight is one of those rare nights where live television really reminds us who’s in charge of the schedule… and it’s not our DVR.

That said, the good news? Nothing is actually canceled. Everything is just shifting around a bit. Your favorite shows are still airing, your favorite hosts are still showing up, and those finales are still happening (even if they come with a slight interruption).

So maybe keep the remote close, stay flexible, and consider this your official excuse to stay up a little later tonight. Because between big-name guests and major finales. Plus a little bit of unpredictability, it’s shaping up to be a pretty interesting night of TV.
