Bravo fans are awaiting news on season 11 of “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” which will see the return of Karen Huger following her absence in the most recent installment of the show. Now, in a recent interview, the RHOP fan-favorite is opening up about why she said no to “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th” and giving an update on her sobriety journey.
Karen Huger Is Prioritizing Her Sobriety
GettyHuger attended the premiere event for “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th” in August 2026. While on the red carpet, she spoke to Us Weekly, and the reporter asked about her absence from the upcoming limited series and whether she was “disappointed” that she “couldn’t be there.”
Huger stated, “I was,” before confirming that she had been invited to be a part of the series. However, according to her, “But I thought for my sobriety to take it slow because I was planning on coming back to season 11 and I didn’t want to overdo it.”
The RHOP star went on to say that she was at the event to “cheer and support.” She added, “I can’t wait to see it with you guys.” After that, the reporter asked Huger if it was “a tough decision” to not participate in RHUGT.
She responded, “It was very tough. I’m very proud to be a part of this family, and I earned my place to be on it, and the fact that they recognized me and supported my decision to just stay low for a minute and continue to heal was so loving and so supportive.”
The “Real Housewives of Potomac” star went on to say she was “grateful” for the support she had received.
The RHOP Star Also Discussed Her Sobriety Journey
GettyNear the end of the interview, the reporter asked about Huger’s “healing journey,” noting how “fantastic” the RHOP star looked at the event. She said in response, “I’m sober, and I’m so grateful. I’m so happy.” After that, Huger discussed the clarity she felt due to her sobriety, saying, “I can see you, I can hear you,” before adding, “And the wig is ten times better.”
Then, she had a message for “anyone who’s struggling,” saying they should “face it and get the help they need and walk through it.” Huger added, “Come out on the other side. It’s wonderful.”
Karen Also Discussed Her Time Behind Bars
Huger was released in September 2025 after serving six months on charges related to her March 2024 car accident. Now, almost a year later, she spoke to E! News while attending the “Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th” premiere about her time behind bars.
According to her, “Bravo stood by me when I went through a lot. And I often credit the courage that I had from the training I had as a Housewife to make it through and to get sober and to be clean.”
She also spoke about her relationship with Andy Cohen, stating, “Andy was one of the few people that I allowed to talk to me inside while I was paying my dues, which I needed to do.” Huger added, “He was so lovely and so supportive. I adore him. I love him, and I am so happy to be a part of his team and his family.”
