HBO’s television lineup is changing, with several of its biggest shows securing new seasons as other favorites reach the end of the road. Across HBO and HBO Max, nine titles received renewals, final-season orders or contract extensions in 2026.
The shake-up comes during another strong year for the network. By July, HBO and HBO Max had collected a leading 122 Emmy nominations, including 25 for ‘The Pitt’ and a record-setting 24 for the final season of ‘Hacks.’ “I’m very proud of the team that we’ve got assembled, and the fact that against unprecedented competition and change in the industry, and obviously change within our own company, that this team continues to deliver,” HBO chairman and CEO Casey Bloys told TheWrap.

Meanwhile, ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Hacks’ have aired their final episodes. Two other acclaimed dramas are preparing to conclude with one last season.
‘Euphoria’ and ‘Hacks’ Take Their Final Bows
HBOAfter three seasons, ‘Euphoria’ officially ended May 31. HBO confirmed the news on the day of the season three finale, turning the episode into an unexpected series farewell. Creator Sam Levinson also discussed the decision during an appearance on The New York Times’ ‘Popcast.’
‘Hacks’ completed its five-season run May 28.

‘House of the Dragon’ and ‘Industry’ Prepare to End
HBO‘House of the Dragon’ will return for a fourth and final season. The ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel’s last chapter is expected to arrive in 2028, following the conclusion of its third season on Aug. 9.
Deadline reported in June 2026 that Showrunner Ryan Condal confirmed the ending, giving the Targaryen drama another season to complete its story.
HBO also renewed ‘Industry’ for a fifth and final season in February, as confirmed by Deadline.
“For some time now we have been thinking about how best to end the show on an unparalleled high,” creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay said. “Unlike some of our characters, we know when to leave a party.”
‘Harry Potter,’ ‘Rooster’ and ‘The Pitt’ Score New Seasons

HBO handed ‘Harry Potter’ an early second-season renewal in May, months before the show’s December premiere. Season two will adapt ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.’
‘Rooster,’ starring Steve Carell, earned a second season midway through its debut run. The 10-episode first season is now available on HBO Max.
HBOMedical drama ‘The Pitt’ was renewed for season three in January, before its second season premiered.

HBO’s Late-Night and Unscripted Shows Secure Their Futures
HBOA24 docuseries ‘Neighbors’ will return for season two after introducing viewers to unusual and deeply personal disputes between residents across the country, the network confirmed in March.
‘It’s Florida, Man’ also received a third season. The comedy recreates strange but true Florida stories with actors, comedians and the people who experienced them.
HBO renewed ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’ for two additional seasons, keeping Bill Maher on the network through 2028.
HBOJohn Oliver will remain at HBO as well. His new one-year agreement keeps ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’ on the air through the end of 2027.
