Former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star and podcast host Teddi Mellencamp has provided a positive update on her health. The news comes in response to comments made by her father, singer and musician John Mellencamp, which suggested that her condition had worsened.
However, Teddi has now revealed that she still has no cancer in her body right now, although she also acknowledged that she has struggled with her mental health in recent months.
Teddi Mellencamp Opens Up on Her Physical and Mental Health
Speaking on her podcast “Two T’s in a Pod” alongside her co-host Tamra Judge, the 44-year-old reality television personality discussed the comments made by her father and how her fans had reacted to them.
According to Teddi, she is not suffering any medical setbacks but admitted that John was likely referring to how she is coping with her mental health. “You know, I think when he said the words ‘suffering,; he meant like, how I’m mentally doing versus how I’m physically doing,’ Teddi said.
Her co-host Judge replied to say that she felt that many people had taken the statement to mean that her cancer had returned following treatment. She said, “Instantly people thought, ‘Oh my God, cancer’s back.'”
Teddi then went on to stress that her condition has not worsened. “No, there’s still no trace of cancer,” she revealed.
“But I’m still considered stage four and I’m still in immunotherapy, so essentially nothing’s changed,’ she explained. ‘I would hope that I would be feeling better by now, but I really don’t.”
Teddi went on to admit that the emotional weight of the past year is only now catching up with her.
Teddi then went on to detail the toll that the constant treatment and events in her personal life have taken on her over the last few years.
‘I also didn’t properly process all of the things that happened when I had surgery, like from my divorce [from Edwin Arroyave] to all of a sudden being in emergency surgery, to, you know, not being able to see my kids when I was recovering,’ she said.
John Mellencamp Opens Up About Daughter’s Cancer Treatment
In a recent television appearance, John shared an update about Teddi when asked about her ongoing struggles following her cancer diagnosis.
Teddi was originally diagnosed in October 2022 with Stage 2 melanoma and the cancer has also spread to other parts of her body, including several internal organs.
“I’ve tried to talk her into moving back home,” John Mellencamp told hosts Craig Melvin, Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer on an episode of “3rd Hour of Today” in January. “I said, ‘Move back to Indiana, bring the kids and just come back and live in Indiana,’ but she won’t do it.”
“You can’t say you’re cancer-free with the type of cancer she’s got for three years. So she has lesions in her brain, it went from her back, just a little, teeny spot on her. Over the last couple years it grew, and it got inside her brain and her lungs.”
