Hallmark just announced a new movie set to debut soon and fans are buzzing over the fun premise and star-studded cast. “All’s Fair in Love & Mahjong” premieres on May 9.
Hallmark Taps Familiar Faces for ‘All’s Fair in Love & Mahjong’
On March 31, Hallmark revealed details on the network’s new movie. It stars Fiona Gubelmann, Paul Campbell, Tamera Mowry-Housley, Melissa Peterman, and Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe.
Gubelmann has starred in several Hallmark movies over the past decade, most recently, “A Royal Montana Christmas.” In “All’s Fair in Love & Mahjong,” she plays Ronni, who is a mom and school nurse.
Ronni hosts a regular mahjong game with a group of her friends, and her love of the game leads to an unexpected opportunity.
The recurring mahjong game Ronni hosts includes her friends Shelley, Carly, and Melissa.
Shelley is played by Yan-Kay Lowe, and Melissa is played by Peterman. Mowry-Housley rounds out the quartet by playing Carly.
Peterman has starred in many Hallmark projects, including “Haul Out the Halloween” and “Finding Mr. Christmas.” Mowry-Housley is another familiar face to Hallmark fans, having hosted “Baked With Love: Holiday” and starring in “Tidings for the Season.”
Lowe played Rita in the fan-favorite “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” movies. In addition, she recently appeared in the new “Nelly Knows Mysteries” movie, which starred Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith.
The Hallmark Enthusiast Instagram page indicates that “All’s Fair in Love & Mahjong” filmed in Victoria, Canada, in February. That means that Lowe was filming her scenes as she was also navigating difficult stages of her cancer journey.
In October 2025, Lowe revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, she has kept Hallmark fans updated regularly. On February 10, Lowe let everybody know she was doing what she loved, which meant filming another project. Given the timing, now fans know what project she was doing.
Filming took place for Lowe after she finished chemotherapy, and before she had a double mastectomy.
Paul Campbell Plays Ben, a Contractor, Who Falls for Ronni
HallmarkCampbell is another Hallmark regular, having co-written and starred in all three of the “Three Wise Men” movies. He also starred in “The Cases of Mystery Lane” movies.
In “All’s Fair in Love & Mahjong,” Campbell plays Ben, a “charming contractor whose family needs a little healing.”
When Ben and Ronni first cross paths, she’s adjusting to some big life changes. Her daughter has left for college, Hallmark teases, and her job has reduced her hours.
In addition, Ronni’s ex-husband is pushing her to sell “the home she’s poured her heart into.”
Ronni meets Ben at a school fundraiser and the sparks fly. In addition, thanks to the fundraiser, she discovers a talent for teaching mahjong.
The network shares, “As Ronni brings community after community together through the game she loves, she discovers that sometimes the hand you are dealt changes everything.”
Hallmark’s movie description continues, “With her future in the balance, Ronni must learn to bet on herself… and maybe on love, too.”
The movie announcement shared on Hallmark’s Instagram page sparked an instant flurry of excited responses from fans.
“Stop!! This brings me so much joy!! I love Mahjong and Hallmark,” one fan gushed.
Another comment read, “So excited about this one for so many reasons.”
Someone else added, “CAN’T WAIT!!! Gonna be a good one!!!”
“Hoorayyyy! I’m so excited for this! What a terrific cast! Unbelievable,” raved an additional Hallmark fan.
