Heather Rae El Moussa and Christina Haack have formed an unbreakable bond over the years, but figuring out what to call each other has proved difficult.
While Christina shares children Taylor and Brayden with ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, Tarek is now married to and shares a son with the “Selling Sunset” star, which has led to some confusion.
It’s Complicated
The HGTV stars — Heather, Tarek and Christina — as well as Christina’s boyfriend Christopher Larocca, sat down to discuss their relationship.
While the conversation was light-hearted and filled with laughter, it did not lead to a conclusive decision.
“Coparent so well, we don’t know what to call each other anymore,” Heather wrote over a video of the foursome sitting poolside talking about life, which she shared via Instagram on Sunday, August 23.
“What is your relation to Hudson?” Christopher asked Tarek—referring to Christina’s youngest son, whom she shares with second ex-husband Ant Anstead. “Are you his ex stepdad? Ex uncle?”
Tarek pointed out that in order to be Hudson’s “uncle,” he would have had to be Christina’s brother.
“This is actually a very good question and I have no idea,” the “Flip or Flop” star said.
Christina then chimed in to explain that Hudson is the half-brother of her older children with Tarek.
Heather asked, “Should we ChatGPT this? I need to really think this through.
“Brayden and Hudson are blood brothers, and that is his father,” Chris said, pointing to Tarek. “There has to be a connection.
“But what about Tristan? Because Tristan is blood,” Heather said of her 3-year-old son. “And what am I?!”
Things only got more complicated when Christina questioned the relationship between Hudson and Tristan.
“This is what is called a modern family,” Chris concluded.
The “Christina on the Coast” star chimed in in the comments writing, “Maybe next year we will figure it out 🤪.”
While some fans wrote in their descriptions of the complicated family tree, others were simply impressed by the relationship between the blended family.
“Don’t need to be blood to be family,” one follower commented.
“The main thing that all you kids have multiplied amount of love ☺️ And that’s wonderful!” another added.
Another agreed, “They share siblings so I would just say they are brothers. Don’t have to be blood to be related.”
Family History
Tarek and Christina were married from 2009 until 2016. They met while working in real estate in Southern California in 2005 and tied the knot four years later.
They went on to launch their hit HGTV series in 2013 and welcomed two children along the way. However, things fell apart and the pair separated in 2016.
Despite their marriage struggles, Tarek and Christina continued to film the home renovation series even after their divorce was finalized in 2018.
Christina moved and married second husband Ant Anstead in December 2018. They welcomed their only son in 2019, but would divorce in 2021.
Meanwhile, Tarek met Heather over the Fourth of July holiday in 2019. Their relationship progressed quickly with the real estate professional proposing on their one-year anniversary. They were wed in October 2021 and welcomed son, Tristan, in January 2023.
Following her divorce from Anstead, Christina quietly married Josh Hall in October 2021 — the same month Tarek married Heather. However, their marriage was short-lived, and they announced their divorce in July 2024. Christina and Josh did not have children.
She has been in a relationship with Chris since October 2024.
