Excitement is building for the sixth season of “Only Murders in the Building,” which is currently in production in London.
For the first time, the acclaimed Hulu comedy will tackle a murder outside the titular building, the Arconia in New York City. For the upcoming season, the crime-solving trio of Charles Haden-Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) will cross the pond when their investigation into the murder of podcaster Cinda Canning (Tin Fey) takes them to London.
Spicy Streep Serenade
Thanks to the upcoming season’s setting, an array of British talent will be dropping in as guest stars.
Among them: Geri Halliwell-Horner, the singer-turned-novelist who was once known as Ginger Spice during her days with the Spice Girls.
Meanwhile, previous guest star Meryl Streep is also returning this season, and Halliwell-Horner took to Instagram to share a sweet video featuring the three-time Oscar winner (and 21-time nominee) serenading her in celebration of her birthday.
With the two posing cheek-to-cheek, Streep sings what appears to be a song she made up on the spot.
“Happy, happy birthday Geri,” Streep croons. “Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh. Though you look like you’re seventeen.”
Streep then switches from her high pitch to a low rumble to add, “You’re sev-en-teen.”
The erstwhile Ginger Spice shared her excitement in the caption, writing, “The best birthday present ever ❤️. Spending my birthday with the extraordinary Meryl Streep was a moment I’ll always treasure. Thank you, @onlymurdershulu, for making it so special.”
A Star-Studded Sixth Season
As previously mentioned, the gang heads to jolly old England for Season 6, where they’ll be rubbing shoulders with a who’s who of U.K. stars.

Why London?
Last year, series creator John Hoffman spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about how the sixth season came to be set in London.
“There was a lot about looking at where we are going to be setting our next season, and thinking about the origins of storytelling around crime and mysteries and murder mysteries, cozy murder mysteries,” he said.
“All of a sudden, it all came together as wanting to look at origins for both the storytelling nature of what is at the source [of the detective genre] through the Agatha Christies and Arthur Conan Doyles and on and on, and on to podcasting today and that line between them, and what that might hold as fertile ground for next season beyond the incredible character that Tina Fey created for us that got this ball rolling,” he added.
