Hallmark stars have spent years giving fans plenty of movies and shows to turn to when they want something comforting, familiar and feel-good. But what do the stars themselves watch when they want to kick back with something they already know and love?
As part of Hallmark’s 25th Anniversary celebrations, several of the network’s stars revealed their personal “comfort watches.” Yep, there are some pretty expected choices mixed in with a few that might surprise fans. And, luckily for fans, Decider chose to share the video to Instagram on Friday, August 7, 2026.
From classic movies and beloved sitcoms to reality TV and true crime, these answers prove that there is more than one definition of a comfort watch.
From ‘Ted Lasso’ to True Crime
Andrew Walker kept his answer short and sweet when asked about his comfort watch.
“I think ‘Ted Lasso.’ That’s my feel good.”
Yep, “Ted Lasso” certainly fits the bill. The series has become known for its feel-good qualities. So it makes sense that Walker would turn to it when he wants something comforting.
Jonathan Bennett, meanwhile, went in a completely different direction.
“I take comfort in ‘Ru Paul’s Drag Race’ and I also take comfort in true crime documentaries”
And honestly, that combination might be one of the more unexpected answers on the list. It also shows just how different everyone’s idea of a comfort watch can be.
Hallmark Stars Have Some Classic Favorites

Alison Sweeney went straight for the classics when she was asked about the movies she finds comforting. She shared:
“‘16 Candles’… all the classics, John Hughes movies I could watch anytime, all the time.”
Honestly, that feels like a pretty solid comfort-watch answer. “16 Candles” is one of those movies that has remained a nostalgic favorite for decades. And Sweeney made it clear that she could happily revisit the John Hughes classics over and over again.
Lacey Chabert also had several familiar titles ready to go.
“I have to say ‘Father of the Bride’ ‘Steel Magnolias’ ‘You’ve Got Mail’ ‘Terms of Endearment’…”
That is quite a list! And it certainly includes a few movies that Hallmark fans may already have in their own comfort-watch rotations.
Holly Robinson Peete had a slightly different take, although there was still a healthy dose of nostalgia involved. She said:
“Mel Brooks movies I can do all day, every day. Even the movie, ‘Ben.’ I know you guys are… ‘Ben’ was about a rat. I can’t believe I was so in love with a movie about a rodent.”
Let’s be real, there is something pretty funny about realizing years later that one of your childhood favorites was essentially a movie about a rat. But Peete clearly still has plenty of affection for it.
Other Hallmark Stars’ Picks
The other answers mentioned during the conversations covered a lot of ground, too. Some of the additional favorites included “Barry Lyndon,” “Friends,” “The Golden Girls,” “The Sopranos,” “Goodfellas” and “Moneyball.”
There were also mentions of anything from Jim Carrey and Hallmark’s own “The Groomsmen,” to British dramas and “Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team.“
It seems like the Hallmark stars don’t necessarily have one particular type of movie or show they turn to when they want to relax. Some prefer a familiar comedy and some go for classic movies. Others apparently have no problem settling in with true crime.
Basically, Comfort Watches Can Be Anything
What makes these answers so fun is that they don’t all sound like the obvious choices from stars who are associated with Hallmark’s unique brand of entertainment.
Let’s be real, sometimes a comfort watch isn’t necessarily something that is traditionally considered “comforting.” It can simply be something familiar that a person enjoys returning to.
For some Hallmark stars, that means a classic romantic movie. For others, it’s a sitcom, a reality TV show, a British drama or even a movie about a rat. And, it seems like that’s really the appeal of a comfort watch in the first place. There are no rules. The only requirement is that it is something that makes the viewer want to press play again.
And with Hallmark celebrating 25 years, getting a glimpse at what some of its biggest stars watch when they’re not working is a fun little bonus for fans. Their choices may even give viewers a few new ideas for their next movie or TV marathon.
