One day after “Property Brothers” star Drew Scott shared his sorrow over his mother-in-law’s death, his HGTV family is rallying around him and his wife of nearly a decade, Linda Phan. In less than 18 hours, Drew’s Instagram post had collected over 13,000 comments, including many from his famous friends.
Scott revealed the sad news about Linda’s mom in a post late on February 5, 2026, writing, “My heart is broken. We have lost one of the most beautiful, kind and selfless people this planet has ever seen. Linda’s mom is truly one of a kind and was taken from us far too soon.”

Posting a photo of himself and Linda with their moms, Drew celebrated all that he loved about his mother-in-law and noted, “I feel helpless in trying to comfort Linda and her family but know memories of all the beautiful times with Habu will live on with us forever.”
Among the many HGTV celebrities writing words of sympathy and comfort was Drew’s twin brother and co-star, Jonathan Scott, who wrote, “💔 what a loving soul through and through. May we always remember and feel the love she shared.” In less than 24 hours, over 2,500 people had liked Jonathan’s comment.
Jasmine Roth of HGTV’s “Help! I Wrecked My House” commented, “So sorry to hear this. Sending love to your family. ❤️❤️❤️”
“Vacation House Rules” star Scott McGillivray wrote, “Such sad news. We are thinking of you guys. 💔 🙏”
GettyEgypt Sherrod, who starred on “Married to Real Estate” until the spring of 2025, chimed in, “Oh no I am so very sorry for your loss. Please give Linda my love.”
Former “Battle on the Beach” star Taniya Nayak, who will compete on the 2026 edition of “Rock the Block,” also weighed in with, “I’m so sorry. Sending love to your entire family. 🤍”
“Ugliest House in America” star Retta commented, “So sorry for your family’s loss Drew. 🤍”
“Fixer to Fabulous” star Dave Marrs, who lost his own mom in the fall of 2025, also left a comment, writing, “I’m so very sorry for your family’s loss. My heart goes out to you all.”

Fellow Canadian native and chart-topping crooner Michael Bublé, who’s been friends with Drew for years and co-owns a hockey team with him, wrote, “So sorry guys. God bless you all. Buble’s send so much love.”
Actress Sharon Lawrence, who most recently appeared in Hallmark’s “A Grand Ole Opry Christmas,” wrote, “oh Drew and Linda I am so sorry for your deep loss. 🤍”
