HGTV’s Schedule for the Week: What to Watch August 17-23, 2026

There is a lot happening on HGTV this week, and the network is mixing its usual lineup with some pretty fun throwback programming. From renovation competitions and home makeovers to house hunting and a little bit of ’90s TV nostalgia, the August 17-23 primetime schedule gives viewers plenty of reasons to keep watching.

The week also has a nice mix of familiar favorites and newer shows, so there is something different depending on what night viewers tune in. Yep, HGTV is keeping things busy, and there are a few things worth highlighting before getting into the daily schedule.

HGTV is Bringing Back the ’90s

HGTV is getting ready for the premiere of its new series “Totally ’90s House” (which premieres August 26) with a lineup of special ’90s-themed episodes featuring some of its favorite shows. We’re talking “House Hunters,” “Designing for the Sexes,” and even “Room by Room.”

The new series stars Jaleel White and is set to bring even more of that decade’s design and television nostalgia to HGTV with “two teams of 1990s television stars who compete to modernize houses stuck in the 1990s while preserving their nostalgic charm to win bragging rights and $25,000 for charity,” per IMDb.

Honestly, this is a pretty fun way to build excitement around a new show. Viewers can revisit familiar HGTV formats while getting a heavy dose of the decade’s decorating style and pop-culture nostalgia.

And let’s be real, the ’90s are having a serious moment right now. HGTV leaning into that nostalgia ahead of a new series makes a lot of sense, especially when so many of the decade’s design choices are instantly recognizable.

What Else is Happening This Week on HGTV

The regular HGTV lineup is still going strong this week, beginning with new episodes of “Ugliest House in America” and “Crashers” on Monday. Tuesday brings new episodes of “Love It or List It,” “Extreme Buyers Club,” and “House Hunters International.”

Wednesday is a big night for “Renovation Resort Showdown,” which reaches its Season 3 finale. “Worst Yard on the Block” also has two new episodes scheduled that night.

And even with the ‘90s throwback shake-up, there’s still plenty of “House Hunters,” “My Lottery Dream Home,” “Roast My Rental,” and other HGTV favorites throughout the week. Yep, there is no shortage of options for viewers who would rather stick with the regular lineup.
