“The McBee Dynasty” matriarch and Bravo personality Kristi McBee is setting the record straight about her reaction to son Cole McBee secretly marrying Kacie Adkison in a Las Vegas ceremony.
Cole and Kacie stunned the McBee family when they revealed that they were now married during a gathering to celebrate their daughter’s birthday. The couple had decided to tie the knot without telling anyone. Amid the shocked faces, it was Kristi who was most taken aback by the revelation.
This prompted speculation among fans that Kristi may not have been particularly happy about the situation. However, the reality television star has now revealed that there are no hard feelings between her and the couple, giving her side of the story when speaking to a producer on the show.
Kristi McBee Was Shocked by Cole’s Secret Wedding
Cole and Kacie had originally chosen to go to Las Vegas for their joint bachelor and bachelorette parties. While there, they then decided to elope without telling anyone. The ceremony was conducted by an officiant dressed as Elvis Presley.
A few days later, friends and relatives gathered for their daughter Blair’s first birthday party. The couple took this opportunity to reveal their enormous secret to everyone present, none of whom were aware that they were now married.
Kristi was visibly surprised by the announcement and was quick to ask why she wasn’t invited.
But, despite her initial shock, Kristi quickly made clear that she wasn’t angry with the newlyweds and was happy that they were now an official couple. She even went on to explain how she had already considered Kacie as a major part of the family.
“They got married!” Kristi told a producer afterwards (via Bravo’s Daily Dish). “I don’t know what’s going to happen next, I’ve realized. I’ve lost control of my family.”
“And they kept it a secret. Every one of them! Even Steven [McBee Jr.],” Kristi said. “Steven didn’t even tell me. He usually can’t ever keep a secret from me. Finally, finally, you’re officially my daughter.”
The secret wedding was a far cry from their original plan of a large wedding on the family farm planned for the fall of 2026.
Cole McBee Proposed With a $35,000 Engagement Ring
The pair became engaged in 2025, with Cole able to keep his proposal secret from Kacie. He popped the question with a $35,000 sparkling 3.16-carat ring and incorporated his then 10-month-old daughter into the proposal.
“I thought we were just going to dinner, and when I was walking outside, I thought I was being pranked,” Kacie revealed at the time. “I realized it wasn’t a prank when I saw Cole and Blair walk out, and the whole trail up to the gazebo was covered in flowers.”
Kacie was genuinely surprised by the proposal, something Cole considered a major accomplishment given how his wife normally knows everything that is going on.
The pair had been in a relationship for several years, although there was not a romantic connection when they first met. In fact, Kacie admitted to friend-zoning Cole after they were introduced through a mutual friend.
