Andrew Walker has traded his usual leading-man look for something a little more comfortable. The Hallmark favorite is showing off some unexpected dance moves in a new video with his wife, Cassandra Troy, and yes, he’s dancing in a robe. Walker and his wife are getting into the spirit of the upcoming Dance Party to End ALZ and promoting the event, proving that a little dancing can go a long way when it’s for a good cause.
Walker and Troy are active members of the Host Committee for the eighth annual event, an evening benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association’s research grant program. The fundraiser was founded by Ashley Williams‘ sister and fellow Hallmark star, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, in honor of their late mother and their family’s journey with Alzheimer’s disease. This year’s Pajama Party-themed celebration will be emceed by Jonathan Bennett and Melissa Peterman and will feature live musical performances and special celebrity appearances along with plenty of dancing and auctions.
This year’s Dance Party to End ALZ will take place on Sunday, Sept. 13 at Avalon Hollywood, with Williams and Nikki DeLoach serving as the official co-hosts, helping to bring the star-studded evening together in support of the fight to end Alzheimer’s.
Walker & Troy Promote Dance Party to End ALZ With Adorable New Video
“A sunset warmup before the real event💃🕺,” Walker wrote in the caption of his Sept. 1 Instagram reel. The post features Walker in a robe hilariously dancing alongside his wife while the song “The Safety Dance” by Men Without Hats plays over the video.
Walker continued in the caption, “On September 13, come DANCE WITH US, laugh with us, and most importantly help raise money for the fight to end Alzheimer’s.”
“Every ticket purchased and donation made, goes to the Alzheimer’s Association grant program, bringing us one step closer to a world without Alzheimer’s,” Walker wrote.
The actor concluded his caption by informing people that they can purchase their tickets through the link in his Instagram bio.
“I swear Andrew + Cassandra have this magical ability to make life feel like a movie every single time. The sunset, the dancing, the absolute joy radiating off both of you… it’s the kind of energy that makes people stop scrolling and remember what community, love, and purpose actually look like. Walker Has a Personal Connection to Alzheimer’s Disease
Walker’s mother, Joyce Walker, passed away in early 2023 following a decade-long battle with Alzheimer’s, according to PEOPLE.
In a March 8, 2023 Instagram post for International Women’s Day, Walker shared a photo of his mom with the touching caption, “The most dynamic, talented, strong willed, loving and protective woman. I’m so lucky to call you my mother.”
“This was a beautiful time, loved our visits mom. As you leave us in this material world, I’ll be able to feel your presence wherever I go which gives me so much comfort,” Walker wrote.
He concluded, “I love you eternally mom.”
Walker opened up to Southern Living about how Alzheimer’s affected his mom. “It’s an awful disease. For so many people that get it, they are full of life people. My mom was the life of the party. She brought people together,” per The List.
